Ian Andrews

A video work constructed for an exhibition with Manne Schulze at Wilson Street Gallery 2010. The work responds to Schulzes vinyl assemblages. All visual elements are sections of records. All sound is made from a number of recordings made from records with hand-built cartridges made from piezo mics, springs, spring steel, and headphone speakers. The records used fall into four categories: discarded records with colourful labels (such as those used in Schulze's work), classic label design, old 78 gramaphone records, and records where the sound is made from records, by artists such as Christian Marclay, Non and Gum.
